Subject: Everything is fine
Dear Maxie, Raphael, and all our old friends,
I was deeply touched by your kind letters. This was the longest and most violent earthquake that we have so far experienced. All trains around the vicinity of Tokyo have stopped, fires have broken out in several places, the tower of our St. Ignatius Church has been damaged, and several areas have been flooded. What makes it worse is that I have been appointed as the acting Rector of this community of about 65 people, all old university professors. Fortunately none in the community were hurt, but all the rooms are a mess. I hope we don't get another one like this. Well, this is an opportunity for all of us to realize that we do not control anything. I really hope and pray that I am able to join you guys for the next reunion.
Take care, and God bless you all.
Cyril
