dear arun
nice to hear from u again. was afraid u had forgotten me.
yes, it was good to meet sigi, hariette, daughter reena. also prabhakar & fmly. meeting after 50 yrs, reminscing.
about this editorial thing ..... i am not the organisational type. just a fun loving joker. always ready for a laugh. i hv not changed much since school. i'll be happy to assist in a souvenir.
but do we really need one? we have a blog we contribute to. we shd encourage larger inputs, as maxie said. paper souvenirs are passe in today's world.
we cd take pics of our reunion, upload. spice them with juicy comments. they will be there on the web, anytime for anyone to access. will keep growing with inputs. can we collect opinion on this, see what the general feeling is?
if we do decide in favor of paper, my humble opinion is that editing shd also be done at mangalore (am not trying to be evasive, or pass the buck,) as:
1) that's where all the action is/will be; it is the venue
2) it has the largest number of classmates
3) all infrastructure is closeby, a small city
4) it will be cheaper. b'lore costs are skyhigh, costliest city in india!!
5) there is the skill & experience of walty andrade. he was principal of st joseph college of commerce here, they hv a house mag. even now he may be heading an institution, he will hv infrastructure at his fingertips.
since our reunion is months away, i'd also like to share a couple of general thoughts:
1) a few of our class may be not as financially fortunate as others, some retired. for our reunion to attract maximum presence, it must be affordable to all. we must consider outstation folks have to travel, incur accomodation costs, plus renuion expenses. this may be hard on some.
2) all of us are at least 65 yrs of age. perforce, a few may not be as fit as others. some will have dietary constraints. an a la carte approach at food points will help here. our exercise must not be a strain on the weaker of us. so shall we keep it simple, not too strenuous, within kodial? this will help persuade some doubtfuls.
it is early days yet, let us exchange thoughts, iron out
potential snags before we encounter them. and make it as much fun as poss, with least hassles. our aim must be to get the best attendance.
......... rgds to u & chand ......... leo
