That was naughty of me! But it also set my memory travel back in years remembering the times (not at funerals, but at our own dining table meals at home) when I fought with my brothers and sisters for the 'peri" - the fish-eggs fried, and the "ganntt" which particularly is peculiar to only the Shevto (...or the Mullet as it is called in English)!
Not too long ago, on one of my own visits to Mangalore and while savouring to my heart's content the fishy delicacies of Mangalore, nostalgia had struck - and I had shot off an article for the Times of India.
