Enjoyed your last mail on Siggi. The nostalgic strain is touching...
Siggi used to have an estate just short of Hassan (...perhaps at Palya - the same one u've mentioned) on the M'lore-B'lore Highway, where I recall he used to try out water conservation schemes for his coffee plants with robust plantain tree trunks buried in parallel ditches dug between rows of coffee plants. He was a great experimentor never daunted or intimidated by failures, forever trying out something or the other.
I used to drop in on him at this small estate in a dry reportedly non coffee-growing area, but never had occasion to meet his wife as she was working in a bank in Hassan - the next main town. Later during my visits to my own small property in Saklespur when I tried to drop in and meet him, I was told he had he had closed down his enterprise and sold the place to join his wife transfered to and working in Bangalore. Wasn't aware our Sequeira brothers had started another (..or the same) enterprise at Palya again.
I wonder if Siggi had followed up also on his artistic hand (......perhaps he has?) - I remember he was a fantastic illustrator!
Thanks for providing me Siggi's contact tel.numbers; I must try and touch base with him once I am back in India.
I didn't think you and the Sequeira brothers were in the Boarding House longer than me! After my sister Marjorie (Bullu)'s wedding in April 1956, dad and mom shifted base to the estate in Saklespur, admitting my brother Manohar and me in the BH. So I was there in the BH for four years from 1956 to 1960 that covered all the High School years from IIIrd to the VIth Form. I was under the impression those were exactly the years in the BH for Joe and you, and for Reddy and Siggi. That the D'Cunhas & the Sequeiras were boarders since 1st-Form is a revelation to me.
'Will look forward to receiving the scanned copy of our BH photograph. Do you have copies of all the years, or only for the final year?
By the way, Raphael's already registered himself as a 'follower' on our classmates' Blog.

dear maxie
sigi does not have a pc; nor plans to get one any time soon. hence, no email id. period. u'll hv to call him @ his mob: +91 9449248771. or his res: +91 8170 210366
i snail mailed him hard copies of our class photo/list. the nostalgia was too much for him. he called me a few times. then got on a bus, came straight here.
he (also reddy) & i shared a roof the longest time. both boarders since 1st form, ,just one year after me. we were more than classmates. i plan to go visit him, meet reddy, breathe some clean rural air, maybe end-feb. they live by palya (between hassan & sakleshpur.) btw, when exactly were u & manohar boarders?
i will mail u a copy of our b'ding house photo when i can get it scanned some place.
take care .........
