Easter wishes have trickled in slow but steadily....
It is Eater vigil tomorrow evening any way, and then Easter Sunday looming up the day after..
A time for all of us to wish each other and the families and loved ones a Holy and a Happy Easter. May the Blessings of the Risen Lord shower on us all...
I remember the time when as children we were intrigued when some of our parents may have been called up to have their feet washed by the celebrant priest (like Christ did) on Mondy Thursday (...we however eyed more the loaf of bread of course that was doled out to them);
......and we were marched off to Milagres Church on Good Friday to listen to the "ghadgado" Passion of Christ (...then said to have been the most effective rendition as compared to services at any other parish church in town);
....and the midnight mass of the Easter vigil of course was also a must (...one had to remember to carry candles with pre-conditioned protection for not getting your fingers scalded by the melting wax) etc etc.
And I remember the excitement when as little ones we were also introduced to large Easter eggs that our sister invariably sent us from Madras; -- which dad , and only dad, had the privilege to crack open and distribute the goodies from within its confines to all around the dining table after the festive Easter lunch... !!!!!!!!!
May be some of us still cherish the hot cross buns that we looked forward to on Good Friday; and I'm sure will not say no even now to... the sugar-crusted Easter eggs and the chocolate Easter bunnies - if someone were to present them to us... !!!!
