From: Maxwell Pereira to all classmates
On Friday, 04 December 2009, 4:33pm
Dear Stany, Harry, Arun and Walter... and all my other classmates of 1960..
Greetings to all of you from Maxwell Pereira...
After serving 35 years in the Indian Police Service - mostly in Delhi, Sikkim, Mizoram and Pondicherry - I have now settled down in Gurgaon on the outskirts of Delhi. Was thrilled beyond measure to hear from Harry a while ago about the planned move for a REUNION of our batch - class of 1960 - that passed out of St Aloysius College School, Mangalore 50 years ago. The promised further communication was eagerly awaited - I am glad it's finally arrived, with the bonus of a class photograph too.
I am absolutely delighted to receive this picture of our batch from you, Stany. It is sad that over the years involving constant transfers and postings, I have lost most of my such childhood treasures. Thanks a ton.
From Arun Talwar's mail it appears he was the one who produced this treasure. Like expressed by Peter Fernandes from Bombay, just cannot wait for this nostalgic event to meet old friends after a record half century! I am afraid though, the month of January 2010 may not suit me, as I am scheduled to return to India from the USA only on February-8; and then have a Concert performance (I sing with the Capital City Minstrels of Delhi) at the Doon School in Dehra Doon on Feb-20/21.
While wishing the organizers in M'lore all the best in making this REUNION a big success, could I suggest that those of us who are not afraid of using the computer/ internet, do start communicating with each other through email or other networking mediums. It would help if in place of tel nos, we also get the email addresses of all those who have so far been listed and located - even while continuing the efforts to locate and contact the others whose whereabouts have been indicated as unknown. If there is anyone among us who can start a website for our passing-out class of 1960, it would be wonderful.
We could then interact on this website with more ease, more focus, and be able to post and exchange old and current photographs, personal life sketches if one wants to share, pictures, life stories or obituaries of those of our group who have already departed to the nether world, etc etc .... the sky being the limit to the variety of activity, information and interaction that could be envisaged and shared.
Meanwhile, I have posted the class photo on my Facebook Profile, the link to which given below - can be clicked for access and viewing... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4157604&id=543331553
Arun, I do spend some time in the UK every year - wish I had known you were around there. In fact I will be in London between Feb-1 to Feb-7, 2010 before landing in Delhi on Feb-8. Would love to meet up, if you are around then (which I doubt, if the dates for end Jan Reunion are finalised)
Before I end, my sincere thanx especially to you guys - Harry, Walter and Stany (also Arun) for spearheading this wonderful initiative. I am sure many of us will stand to benefit manifold by this in the days to come..
With affectionate and warm regards,
Maxie

From: Arun Talwar to Harry, Walty, and all others
04 December 2009
Dear Harry, Stany,Walty and all of our classmates,
Namasthe and a big pat on the back for the three muskateers for taking the trouble of tracing most of us.
I am so excited that I have hardly slept a wink the last couple of days.
Here is my suggestion - the boys meet at the academy Hall at 9.55am on Saturday the 30th. Jan 2010 (that's the time "gorilla" used to ring the big school bell
We have lunch together and catch up on the 50 years of news and disperse at 2.00pm to pick the wives (hopefully they would have packed the bags and be ready !)
Meet at a central point at 4pm and hop on to the coaches and proceed to the bird sanctuary Coondapur. ( I can recollect that Subodh was fond of birds even those days and I am glad he has moved on to the feathered variety)
Fellowship over dinner till at least midnight (please)
Sunday the 31st. = after breakfast we do the sight seeing, have lunch and maybe siesta.
Either we leave for Mangalore on Sunday evening, or we could stay another night - a semi-formal dinner (the wives might want to dress up) and leave after breakfast on Monday morning. We could have a group photograph taken with our Alma Mater as a backdrop on Saturday morning. Another group photograph to be taken with our wives at the sanctuary.
My medical college classmates of '64 meet every 2 years and we had one in Goa in 2007 and last month we met at Hubli – and a little keepsake booklet is published each time, with the photographs before and present and a photo of the couple with all the addresses and other info, this could be sponsored by some chemists or pharmaceutical company (Subodh- Trilochan could liase)
Harry, Stanley… if you could e-mail your postal address I will post these booklets for you to see straightaway. This is just my suggestion.
In the meantime could you dig into your photo albums and find any school photographs like the trip to Cannanore and any photo of yourself of 1960 or thereabouts.
lots of Mogh and Besav
Arun

Dear all,
I must thank Arun Talwar for identifying many. I candidly admit that except for Loy & Harry, I found it difficult 2 identify any! Age, my friends, takes a toll of all. I, for the love of Mike, cannot remember why I missed the photo ops with such a bevy of beauties & intellectuals. My loss. Now that the opportunity has been opened by Harry & co, V should not let the plan fail. I am one for inclusion of ur be(i)tter 1/2s for the entire duration. Modalities can b left 2 Harry & co.
Rgds,.... Prabhakar
